Fountainhall Church at the Stocket and Fountainhall Church Centre will take part in Doors Open Day 2024 on the
7th September from 10am to 4pm.  Unfortunately, because of prior bookings, Fountainhall Church at the Cross cannot take part this year.

At the Stocket most areas of the building will be open, with various displays sharing information about the history and the current activities in the two places of worship of Fountainhall Church.  On arrival, visitors will receive a map of the building explaining the different areas, how to reach them and what will take place there.  Tours will start in the Church Sanctuary and volunteers will be on hand throughout.

In the Sanctuary there will be a display reflecting the church activities which take place in both places of worship.  Leaflets listing all the activities will be available.  Information will also be given about the history and artefacts of the Church with a focus on the architect, Dr William Kelly of Kelly’s Cats fame.  There will also be a focus on the stained-glass windows by Douglas Strachan, Marjory Kemp and Rev. Father Ninian of Pluscarden Priory.  Throughout the day solo musicians, many of whom rehearse in the Church, will provide background music. Charities supported by the church will also have displays, sharing information.

In the Church Halls there will be displays, sharing information about some of the groups who meet regularly at Fountainhall Church.  At least two groups will give performances during the day.  In the morning, Vocal Moves will sing twice 10.30am and 11.30am. Granite City Chorus will sing twice in the afternoon at 2pm and 3pm.

Refreshments will be available between 10am – 4pm in the Garden Lounge.

There will also be tours of the Community Garden with the Bible Trail and Eco-friendly initiatives to encourage wildlife.

At the Centre there will be displays and demonstrations from various groups that use the building for meetings with volunteers on hand throughout.

Highlights include a display of scale models built by the Aberdeen Modellers Society, demonstrations from the Aberdeen Stitch & Textile Group and the Granite City Stitchers, a display from the Philatelic Society and material from the Police Archives.

Refreshments will be available between 10am - 1pm in the Lounge and from 1pm - 4pm in the Raven Room. Both rooms are on the first floor, accesible by lift as well as the stairs.
